SES light won't go away

Will the wrong plugs cause the light to come on? I recently changed out the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil on my K2500 with a 5.7. After doing this the SES light came on. When I read the codes it said there was a misfire (P1345) and a misfire pending (P1345 pd). I tried to clear the codes and they kept coming back. The truck runs nice and smooth but the light won't stay gone. I used bosch plugs and after reading found out that chevy's don't really like any plugs but AC Delco, is this true? Thanks for any help.

The code is not a miss fire code.
It is a code for camshaft retard setting off.

You will need a engine capable scanner to check and set it.
It is set by turning the dist or what used to be done when setting the timing.

But while you are there pitch the Bosch in the trash can and get the right AC-Delco plugs for it.
Or you may have some miss fires sooner or later.:grinyes:

I got that code once from a bad cap and rotor. Try a new Delco before setting the timing.

True the code is for a cam retard (CKP/CMP correlation), but when you plug in the OBD II it says misfire, that is why I refered to this way, sorry for any confusion. My real question, why would the light come on just from changing this stuff out? Thanks again.

wouldnt a cracked insulator on a plug cause this too...pull the plug and check it just to be safe before you throw more money at it

Code no should be different for them.

Changing a cap or rotor could change the camshaft retard setting.
Better to use the AC-Delco cap and rotor.
If you are getting a 1345 code get it on a engine capable scanner and check and or set camshaft retard.
Also recheck codes with a engine capable scanner.

If the camshaft retard setting is way off it can also make a miss fire.

Did you by chance knock loose the cam sensor? It is at the back of the distributor. Reseat it and see what happens.

I got the light to go out. I just turned the dizzy a little and it went out. I am going to take it to a shop and have them set it right for me. Thanks for all the help on this. One other thing, does this site have a for sale section?
