hey guys! I have a 1994 cavalier rs with 2.2 liter and 3speed automatic 4cyl and I've been using full synthetic 10w-30 motor oil in it for 7 months now and about convinced that I don't need to change my oil like regular. I just rolled over to 189,000 miles yesterday. Is it true that with the full synthetic,my engine is good for 25000 miles? I was thinking more like 5000 before. That shit is expensive, but if i can run it 5 or 6 thousand, its worth it! Let me in on what you think.

I have a 1994 cavalier 2.2 L. you should use 5w-30 oil, and synthetic is good for about 10,000 miles (if you want your engine to last longer, more smoother and efficiently).

i run AMS Oil 5w-30 and it is very good shit. its like 10 dollars a quart or something around there.....

No oil is good for 25,000 miles. The problem isn't the oil, it's the contaminants in the oil that are too small for the filter to get out. Conventional oil will go for 8-10k miles before it starts to break down. If an oil doesn't get dirty by 5k miles or so, it's because there are no detergents in it an everything is building up in the block and oil pan. I use Mobil1 full synthetic in my car (only because that's the one we stock at work, if "we" changed brands, so would I) and change it every 3-4k miles, depending on how hard I drive.

totally agree with you.

i like to change mine every 10,000 miles. the more oil-changes you do, the longer your engine will last.
