Hey all im new here, I am currently looking for a new car and found a dealership with a 2002 ford focus zx3. It was somewhat converted into a svt focus. The man that had it before equipped an turbonetic turbo, blow off valve, intake, and a dynomax muffler. My father was somewhat sketchy about buying it because he thought it had been beat on. Instead he talked to the dealer and actually got the price down to 4500 from 5900. He didn't buy it yet, he talked to a local mechanic and the mechanic had told him that the engine would not be strong enough to handle the turbo and other upgrades. IS THIS TRUE?? Im asking on here so that I could show my father and prove him wrong. Please give some feedback

asking if a car can use a turbo without braking is a question that will need more information. You sould be safe a a low boost ~6psi, but if he is running stock internals or injectors on something more optimistic say 14psi, then it's a ticking time bomb. As a personal rule of thumb i try to stay away from modified cars, because usually thay have been abused, driven hard and put away wet, i always figure your better off getting a cheaper car and doing your own work to it, that way you get exactily what you want, and you know it's done right.
