I need to change the coolant on my 2004 Grand Prix, but for the life of me I can't find the radiator "drain cock"/ petcock any information would be great.

Thanks

Welcome to AF.

Unless GM changed the location of the radiator drain petcock on '04 and up Grand Prix models compared to the '97-'03 models it should be located driver's side of radiator towards engine side, lower corner. It is a plastic plug that you turn about 1/4 turn counterclockwise to open it.

Thanks, I'll give it a try in the morning and see what I get...

I can confirm that the drain is on the bottom of radiaotor tank on the dirver side. It's not easy to get to. A socket (3/4" I think) will fit on the "handle" making it much easier to turn. The coolant will actually drain out of the bottom of the radiator mounting post on the bottom on the radiator. As I recall it takes more than one turn to start flow.

Thanks for the info I found the plug, it was right in the bottom driver side of the radiator as stated, and a pain in the A** to get open. It's like the designed it to be hard to open.

Thanks again...

Yeah, I notice your comment and I was a bit curious because I just recently got a oil change on my 00' GP se and the specialist recommended me to get a coolant flush and replaced the coolant with the recommended coolant. It cost about $75.99 to do so, however, I was wondering is it a simple task to do for DIYer. Please reply I need an advice.

Once I found the plug and found something to open it - 3/4 ratched did the job, then the hardest part was just keeping the old coolant from getting all over the place. I consider myself a novice at best and didn't have to much trouble.
