2000 Chevy Malibu Overheating Stopped

I have found a lot of useful information on this sight that has helped with many of my automotive needs, and I owe it to this sight to share some . Recently my 2000 Chevy Malibu was overheating and boiling coolant out of the overflow at an alarming rate. It could only be driven a few miles before it was not driveable anymore. The Malibus have a horrible problem with the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, and it was the first thing we replaced. Next came the water pump and the starter. I couldn't begin to say why the starter went out but it did. Replaced the thermostat, and flushed the system vigorously. It turned out that an air pocket had formed in the radiator hose and was preventing proper fluid flow. Before spending a bunch of money on repair, make sure ALL of the air is bled out of the system.

Did you do all of this work yourself or have a shop do it ?

I had the same thing happen to me shortly after I bought mine. The one time it just poured out of the overflow bottle. It was terrible. I replaced the thermostat and the water pump and it still happened. Here all it was was the cap to the bottle was broken! Which was only noticed on accident. Now I have no problems with it over heating.
