Bulbs In Doors

I need the make/model of the bulb in the door (specifically the one that shines on the handle) for my 1996 Riviera.

I'm going to be pulling the door panel to fix a little lock problem tomorrow and would like to knock out the door lighting while at it.

Thanks.

Anyone know where to find part number 12536289 it is the bulb and the wire assembly. The bulb is part of the wire, orange and white lead, and a tiny tiny bulb. I can post pics if need be.

Visited Buick dealership. Informed that GM sold its entire stock to 3rd party.

Went to radio shack and found comparable 12v LED, installed, work great.

So you soldered in the LED and it fit in the mount that is in the door? It is a very small hole - the LED I had around the house was way too big to fit through it.

I ended up finding some online... different colored wires but they work.

Where did you find the bulbs and wires, I need them also, would appreciate any info including how you made them work to replace the originals!

You can still get the correct lamp assemblies complete with attached harness and connector. Interestingly the Buick parts diagram shows two different part numbers for the lamps in the door handle recess and the leather door pull strap. I think the only difference originally was that one bulb had a blue coating on it and the other had a clear coating on it. In any case they are completely interchangeable. See my post at the bottom of this thread:

In the end I would just order it from the dealer (PN 12536289) and save yourself shipping charges. When I ordered mine I ordered 12536289 (lamp for door handle recess) from the dealer and 12535585 (lamp for leather door pull strap) from vpartsinc.com I coincidentally received them on the same day. Although they showed two different part numbers they were 100% identical.
