I know one man with the 3800 S/C engine in his P-Body. It uses the manual 5-speed from a '92 Barretta. Whether or not the original will fit, I can't say.

im trying to find out about a 92 bonnie, but i think i am going to go to a local junkyard to find an SSEi, cuz i know that the i means it is supercharged and i have seen specs on Fieros with superchargers and they are outstanding.

But what other engines can i swap in, i know a north star will work, but is there any else, i have also seen buick engines swapped in....hmm, anyone know any others that arent legit, lol (i.e Camaro engines and crazy stuff like that)

www.thefierofactory.com for 4.9 Cadillac swaps, www.gmtuners.com for 3800SC and other swaps www.v8archie.com for SBC or LS2 swaps, if you have the skill you can put anything you want into a Fiero. Not enough skill just have a deep pocket.

The 4.9 was used in the big Cadillacs in the 90s. A torque monster, which can get "good" gas mileage in a Fiero. The downside is that the rpms peak out ~4500 rpm. With the right exhaust, they have a nice V8 sound.

Please refrain from the use of the term "torque monster" when refering to engines with less than 400 CID... Argh! Argh! Humor... (it's all relative...)

There's a Fiero in Louisa County, VA, with a 455 Pontiac in it. It uses a TH425 (FWD unit from early '70s Eldo and Toronado). The starter was moved to the passenger side, and a flexplate was fabricated. The frame "cradle" was pretty easy to make. All the stock Fiero axles, etc. fit. It drives like a stock Fiero, UNTIL... You HAMMER it! 10.80s on 87 octane, no adders. It's easy to drive and takes the power gracefully, as most middle-engine cars do.

FWIW

10.80!?!? So are you saying its a AWD then w/ the TH425?

No, not AWD. Just RWD like other Fieros. The engine is in the middle of the car.

There's a fair pic of the car and the engine on my website centralvirginiamachine.com . The car is called "Fear Arrow". It's a butt-ugly purple!
