Has anyone experienced this scenario:

1. When at idle or at a stop light/traffic for a period of time,
while your foot is on the brake, it feels as if the engine surges..

2. The car was brought to the dealer and they made an
"adjustment", a bunch of bull****...

3. The car still "jumps" or feels like it wants to surge...

Believe it or not, I found a guy here at my work who had the same problem. Turns out ot be something to do with the coils or something. I am waiting for him to bring in the replair order from Nissan so I can copy it and get the part numbers...

I have the exact same problem with my '99 Maxima. I have not brought it to the dealer, however. Please let me know what the solution is so that I don't get ripped from the dealer.
Thank you,
Andy

My '98 Infiniti I30 would surge when I was accelerating - usually happened in the 30-50mph range under light accelaration. The engine would also hesitate slightly when I accelerated from a stop. It almost seemed to be the engine management correcting for loss of air or something. Because no CEL was illuminated I decided it had to be outside of the electronics/computer. So I did two things: changed the intake manifold gasket b/w the intake runners and the intake manifold (I noticed alot of black soot around the gasket on the runners - thought the gasket was hardening and starting to leak) and changed the PCV valve. It now runs almost as good as when I bought it (about 100k miles ago). I think it was the PCV valve - I checked it by blowing and sucking in it (it's a check valve - should blow through one way and stop flow the other way) but the old valve would allow air pass both ways. Not sure which it it was, but if you have the same problem, start with the PCV valve - it's about 5 bucks at Autozone and it is much easier to change out (though the engine manifold only took about an hour - valve took about 30 minutes).

Good luck.
