92 MX-3 Cheap Engine Swaps

Hello everyone, I have a '92 Mazda MX-3 with a 1.6L engine. I got the car for free a couple of years ago and it sat for awhile with a blown head. A friend with a '95 Kia Sephia sold me their car for $300 and I was amazed to find that the engines are EXACTLY the same, aside from the valve cover and the writing on the intake manifold. I swapped the engines and got it running great for about 3 months before it blew. When I was swapping the engines, I noticed the kia engine was pretty gunky inside, so it doesn't surprise me that I blew the engine. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any other cars that use that same engine. I'm pretty sure I just need a new head to get it running again, but I'd like to have a spare that I can get completely overhauled and sport-tuned to handle higher RPM's. I haven't been able to find any MX-3's around here that aren't on the road.

Get a BPT motor.

well i got it running again for nothing, so that should give me the time to find the money before it blows for real this time. I just replaced the camshaft sprocket and it runs like a champ again
