Ok, well iv had my 91 TC for 2 years now, bought it used of course, the owners said it was never driven hard (which doesnt matter cuz i raced it when i got it lol). But there was a problem a while back with my engine not idling right and my step-dad went to take that huge air intake off for some reason and he broke a peice off by the seal. And now i cant get it to seal right and im losing alot of air, so to make up for lost air i increased the idler using a bolt to manually extend the gas pedel so its always getting gas, but its not getting much more, just enough to run very nice and stable idle.
Also, i have removed the intake in hopes of trying to get it sealed perfectly. When i took it off, i thought i might as well clean it too. I notice that inside the plastic (where the air travels through) its VERY VERY dirty, when i put my finger in there it came out black. Could that cause a problem?
I was thinking of using Gorilla Glue to seal around the seal which connects to the manifold, as thats all i have that would work (other than duct tape which didnt work, melted). Would Gorilla glue melt as well?
And my final question, whats the plastic thing thats under the air intake? I know theres wires running through it, but someone duct taped the shit outta it. Is it just used to run wires across the manifold?

I doubt Gorilla Glue will hold for very long. Too much heat and vibration. Do NOT use silicone calk to seal it. Go to the junkyard and buy a used air filter box and ductwork. It's the easiest way out of this mess. As for the dirt in the duct, somebody hasn't been good about changing filters.

The Air intakes on all 1992-1995 4.6L powered Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis/Town Car will fit/work on your car so if you happen to have trouble finding a Town Car in a junkyard.
