those subs are not matched very well (impedance wise) to that amp

They may not be matched correctly but since the amp puts out mono 900W RMS into 2 ohms he can use 1 voice coil on each sub wired parallel to get the 2 ohm load and have an effective 1000W RMS and 2000W Peak power handling for the system plus an spare set of VC connections if he does burn the one pair of VC's up. Or just use 1 sub wiring the 2 VC's in parallel and keep the other for a spare replacement and get the same results.

if a sub comes with 2 voice coils you have to use both. Companys adding more then 1 voice coil was so that you had better options in terms of ohm loading and it's not an option to not use them. it will be like running a engine with you pulling out half of the spark plug wires.

American Bass? Is that the brand? Found a post online saying they ain't bad.

I would throw that Sony product in the trash (its all its good for) or return it.
Get a more proper amp that will closely match the RMS. I'd only hook up one personally, but here is a guide to help you wire it properly, whether you want one or two.

Ok, I admit not knowing much about dual coil speakers, never messed with them personally. Still the 2nd option of using 1 speaker in a parallel wiring with the amp he wants to use is still valid.

yes, that is ok .... but leaves out a sub, hence my original comment that the amp was not very well suited to the subs (if you want to get full power from the amp).
