This one will be for the '60 ERA contest on SPC.

I'll enter this contest with the AMT '67 Ford Mustang from the movie Tokyo Drift.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_002~5.jpg

It's based on the older 350 Mustang but this one got some upgrade parts to make a Nissan engine in it :)

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_003~5.jpg

Here's the rest of the parts:
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_004~4.jpg

The front wheels are smaller than the rearwheels, so AMT gave me 3 big tyres and 1 small tyre  :-? In my partsbox I searched for new tyres and found them.

The wheels are a bit to big for the model but if I can't find other wheels I'll use these. The spokes will be gun metal btw.

The model must be painted in dark metallic green. I'll buy this colour this week.

Here some pics of the original model:

Good luck on this one!

I also built that kit - I had all 4 good tires for the rims but decided to use another rims - they looked huge. I had fit problems with the hood, and the decals are terrible. Except from these, it was fun to build. I used the stock engine, and made my own stripes, exhaust tips etc.

Hit back how yours is going!

Here's mine, sorry for the bad quality:

Hows the over all quality of the kit? Typical AMT model? Ive been thinking about getting this kit just for fun. Good to see someone doing this kit. Good luck with it, hope to see more.

I have the 67 mustang kit from amt, and these two kits are exactly same, except the upgrade parts of course. the original kit is not bad at all, it could get even better with some detailing and customizing. I think I'll replace the stock engine with a 427 from a shelby cobra kit :)

Today my dad and I made a aluminium sleeve for the small wheels.

I bought some Pegasus 23'' Sleeves as well but they are a bit to big and to wide for the Mustang. So that's why I made new ones.

I made them on a lathe with my dad. He teaches me all about this job and I really like to do it so I can make my own parts.

I made it all about some rough aluminium and this is the result:

Now on to the three others

Long time ago, but I have done some things on this beast.

First I started on the engine. I painted the valvecover in titanium gold and the exhaust was painted chrome silver.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_001~2.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_002~2.jpg

Than I searched for the turbo etc. but couldn't find that part in the kit.... O this must be a turbo or something :D
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_003~2.jpg

Ugly en far from realistic I thought.... So I searched for a better turbo and made the rods for it.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_004~2.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_005~2.jpg

So on to the body. I sanded and puttyed a few times and than primed it.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_006~2.jpg

While it was drying I looked on the referencepics and saw that the front was incorrect. So I cutted out the grille and licenseplate holder.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_007~2.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_008~2.jpg

and a dryfit with the engine:
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_007~2.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_008~2.jpg

I also finished the last sleeve for the wheels. Yesterday I polished it on the lath and I really love the result now. I also removed the silver paint from the wheels. They will be painted gun metall this week I hope.
The rearwheels will have a bigger lip than the front wheels.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_010~2.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_011~0.jpg

And a dryfit with the body and wheels:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_013~0.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/motor_015~0.jpg

Maybe this week the body will be painted by a special TS colour named AMG DTM Metallic Deep Green...

Nice progress on this kit so far! Your modifications really make the car look way better!

Anyway, can you post a few words about making those wheels from aluminium? It can be useful I think!

Those wheels look SOOOOOO much better than those stupid AMT ones. They look much more acurate to the Volks that were on the real car too. Not completely acurate, but probably about as close as you're gonna get. Looking great so far!!! Keep it up!

I have always wanted to build this kit! Love the wheels and where did you get the turbo from? It's perfect! Will you duplicate all of the interior bits too?

Sooooooooo awesome!! It looks fantastic!!! I'm speechless!!

Did you ever thought about 'bashing that engine into a silvia kit...?

I got this turbo ordered by hiroboy.com

And I try to make the interior also like the real one. Not really replicate it but I'll try to make it looks like the real car.

New update!

I painted the body with 3 layers. The next day I sprayed 1 layer of TS-13 on it.

After a few days drying, I polished the paint a bit.
Today I added the striping on the body wich wasn't a problem.
Unfortunatly AMT forgot to make some more striping for the front and rear. So I made some myself and it turned out not bad at all.

and with the nice rims:

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/decals_007~1.jpg

Maybe this week I add another layer of clearcoat and than I will bring on some BMF on the windowtrims and clearcoat it again.

You made the rear wheels look nice and beefy with that deep dish!!!! Love it! The turbos really add detail to the RB. Very nice job on this.

looks great, i cant help but wonder where the hell the inlet pipe is going though, that should be attached to the intercooler, its running right past a hot RB26 block, harly economical....like it actually matters :P looks great, im lovin' the wheels!!

yesterday I got enough time at work to add the BMF windowtrims on the Mustang.

When I came home I clearcoated the body 2 times and it's now already shiny and need to be polished in a couple of days.

The colour is quite darker on the pics now but in real life it's still darker though. A hard colour to get nice on the pics :(

I still can't get over how awesome those wheels are. Do you think You might try to throw an intercooler in there? maybe even complete plumbing?

Update!

I did a lot of work last days/week.

First the frontbumper. The grille is on the real car only mesh so I made a grille out of some nice mesh.
I also placed the terrible headlights. So many flash on the parts that I had to look twice before I knew this were the parts for the lights.
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_001~6.jpg

The rearlights are nice and already red, so I only had to glue them on the back.
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_002~6.jpg

The discbrakes from AMT are to big for this wheels so I picked up some from an other kit, and modified them to fith on this wheels.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_003~6.jpg

The windows fits good.
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_004~5.jpg

The engine was placed on the frame. The springs were really teribble looking so I made some springs by myself.
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_005~4.jpg

Yesterday I added all the BMF on the interiorparts. Today I flocked the interior and glued it together. I used an steering wheel from an MK1 Golf.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_007~2.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_009~0.jpg

And a dryfit of all:
http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_010~0.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_011~0.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_012~0.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_013~0.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_014~0.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_015~0.jpg

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_016.jpg

Now it's time for the chassis and engine. I have to modify the exhaust to fit on the new turbo. I also have some little detailparts for the body.

It's almost 1st of november so I've to hurry up :D

I think this has got to be one of the best builds of this kit i've ever seen, great work man, you've gone and built the kit the way it should have been done from the start, good luck with the rest of the build!
