When do you decide?

When do you decide to call in sick for the day?

Right before I have to go in.

usually the night before. I am never awake enough to make decisions like that in the morning befoire work

Call off sick??? You mean at a real job you don't have to come in anyway??? Geez, I gotta get me one of them!

Only sick time I've had off from my summer job in that past 2 years is the month I was down with mono and strep this past June. :o

But in the past, I've tried to call in atleast a few hours before I'm due so they can find a sub or prepare some other plans.

I've only done that twice in the last ten years. Either I like what I do or I just don't get sick much.

I never used to call in sick. I used to have this thing called "work Ethic" and I was laboring under the mistaken delusion that "work ethic" and "hard work" would equal "job security"
Well, it didn't work, I got let go anyway. I didn't even get two weeks notice, I got let go, handed a final paycheck, and shoved out the door all in the same day. Damnit, I've got car payments due!!!

My mom always made me go to school unless I had a fever or was throwing up. I rarely have either scenario, but if there's a day where I one way or another feel "off" enough that I know my productivity will be shot, I make the call. I usually wind up making the call between 8 and 8:30 a.m. (I am "supposed" to be there at 8). And sometimes I'll give myself the benefit of the doubt, get to work, fart around for a couple of hours, and then decide my productivity isn't where it shouldn't because I am feeling a few degrees off center, and then I leave.

I cant remember the last "real" sick day i had...but i can remember plenty of others!!!

I'm always to chicken to ring the boss so i get the wife to. Most times around 4-5 hours before i go to work

I don't ring in if I'm too sick to work.Usually they tell me when I get there.

The only time I've called in to work in the past 3 years is once when I had a blowout 2 cities away and couldn't get to work, and once when I has a respiratory infection and couldn't even walk around the house by myself for a week. Other than that I've always been to work.
