I have an 04 Silverado Crew Cab Z71. If i were to get a 3in body lift would 35's fit on the truck? If so does anyone have these tires http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Emudgrappler%2Eoverview with this setup. If this setup is possible could you please show pics? Caqn i put a 35x12.5xR17LT tire on my factory 17in rim?

Do it! It'll work on ur stock rims with a crank of your torsion bars but after market rims might make them rub. I have the same setup except i have bfg all-terrains.

Are 12.5 wide tires not too wide for the stock rims? My tires are 305/70R17 so they are bout 11in wide now.

They're wide but they'll still fit. And the tire u have on is about 12inches wide. 305 = 305mm which is like 30.5cm which is a little over 12 inches.

I have a 3" body lift and a 2" keys and blocks lift.

What do the 2in keys do? Isnt that the same as jus cranking the torsion bars? Im new to all this so im tryin to figure it all out.

blocks lift? That for the back of the truck? What do the 2in keys do? Isnt that the same as jus cranking the torsion bars? Im new to all this so im tryin to figure it all out.

ya stock blocks are 2" and i changed mine out for 4" blocks in the back. And you can only get about an inch out of ur torsion bars by cranking them and ur truck will ride like shit but keys let u go to 2" without putting too much stress on your front end components.

So right now i line up with most 6" suspension lifts and run 35" tires on a 4" backspaced rim with no rubbing at all.

thanks man. body lifts are kinda ghetto unless you cover them up good. If i was to start all over and do it all at once id just get a 6" suspension lift.

i wonder how those tires, stock rims, and a 6 in susp lift would look? I think the wheels may look 2 small.

i did get bigger blocks. And add a leafs were more expensive and the shop told me to just go with the bigger blocks. Some ppl run like a 6" suspension lift with an 8 inch block in the back so im sure a 4" block cant be that bad.

Most 6" suspension lifts usually require aftermarket rims with at least 4" backspacing or so. And most ppl usually run 35s on a 6" lift. Oh and keep in mind that u should probably regear when going to a 35 or bigger tire.

I figured that. How much does it cost to regear?

On a 4x4 u gotta do front and rear diffs and u should probly get a stronger posi put in. Mine was just over 2000$ canadian installed for 4.56 yukon gears and auburn posi. I think gears alone would be about 1000$.

What would happen if i didnt regear when i got larger tires?

You can put those tires on stock rims, but its pushing the limits. If you run anything wider than a 8-9 inch wheel and 4.5 inches or less you will have some good rubbage. Id just get the 6 inch lift. As for the tires, while I love the looks, they are really loud and dont last very long. If you want my .02 get Toyo Open Country MT's. As for gearing, if you have 3.73's is liveable, but your tranny and rear end will eventually hate you.... You do lose some power and mileage but its not awful. Im glad I regeared. Regearing is also a good way to get rid of the GM G80 locker, which in my opinion is a timebomb waiting to explode.

How hard is it to regear? Can it be done at home?

I couldnt and wouldnt do it. But when it comes to that work, I have never claimed to know alot... Many guys do it themselves, there are a few tools that the avg. shadetree mechanic doesnt have but Im not sure which ones they are. Most say the rear is quick and easy, but the fron requires major dis-assembly of the front suspension and removal of the diff. Id say unless you are very comfortable with the wrenches, leave it to the pros. It takes a full day for a professional to do the front and back.

I probably wouldn't touch it myself either. I think the shop worked on mine for two days. And they said that if you wanna get a new posi it requires some precise balancing which you probably can't achieve by yourself.
