need help with ac

i have a 2000 jetta and i ran out of freon... i want to go ahead and put the freon my self to safe some money.. has anybody put thier own freon on their jeeta or know how to do it?

its easy the low pressure port is right on top of the compressor located on the left side of the engine. go to autozone or oreilly and get a can of r134a coolant and a pressure gauge, maybe 20 bucks or so total. go home turn car on and ac on high fan and lowest temp. take off the low pressure cap connect the gauge to the coolant can then the gauge to the low pressure port twist the valve open slowly keeping the gauge in the blue zone until the can is empty and it will recharge
