Beep when roof finishes opening/closing

I just bought a 2005 Megane Coupe Cabriolet. The manual says that when the roof has finished opening or closing there should be a beep, indicating that one can take one's finger off the button. Mine doesn't seem to beep. Has anyone seen this problem before, or knows what might cause such a fault?
