I bought a 2006 4 door 4 cyl. Malibu LS a month ago with 9800 miles on it. Love the car. This is the first car I've owned/driven since 1985. I've had SUV's all this time. I don't have any issues with it but one thing bothers me. When the car is moving slowly and I turn the steering wheel a distinct "clunk" sound comes from the front end. It can be felt in the steering wheel. Is this normal?

I may be wrong, but don't late model malibus have a steering column problem or something similar?

MOST OF THE TIME THE SYMPTOME YOU ARE DESCRIBING IS CAUSED BY THE STEERING SHAFT BEING DRY. tHIS IS NOT A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND WON'T CAUSE ANY HARM, IT'S JUST ANOYING, p/u'S AND suv'S HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. iF YOUR CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY GO TO YOUR LOCKAL DEALER AND ASK FOR A STEERING SHAFT LUBE KIT, IT IS VERY EASY TO INSTALL AND EVEN COMES WITH DIRECTIONS.
