Well this weekend im picking up a b18a1 Engine. Now i have a 1997 civic ex with a d16y8 the car only has 100000 miles on it soo i plan to drive it untill at least winter before i want to swap anything out. I was going to put the motor on my engine stand and possibly rebuild it. Now i dont think it needs a rebuild because it only has 72,000 miles on it but i wanted to start piecing together a turbo kit and have everything by winter. Now from what i hear would it be better to build the engine stronger with new rods ect, or would it be fine how it is? Now i dont kno to much about swapping honda motors or enything would i have to swap out my tranny with another one or will it bolt up to the b18? and also how would the wireing be? im getting the complete harness with the engine i hurd thats possibly the biggest pain....Now im not posting this to waste anyones time i tend on doing this swap and need all the help i can get i have installed a turbo before but i just dont kno if the engine can handel it or not without being rebuilt. I kno once its done it would need to be tuned. I plan to start buying everything when i find out exactly everything i need and will have pics of the whole progress once im started. Hopefully you guys can help

you cant use your tranny its a d series and youre doing a b-series swap. i thought you were gonna work on your y8 tony?? youd still make good hp just workin on it and turboing that setup. if youre set on getting that b18 id find a vtec head and make it an ls/vtec turbo setup youll make some sweet power out of it for not that much $$$$

Well im basically having mixed signals on what im doing here. I have the money to turbo my d16y8 but is it worth it? i got the b18a1 in on a trade it only has 72,000 miles on it now im debating if i want to swap it in or just want to turbo my y8 and just hold or sell the b18. I mean if i put new rods, pistons, camshaft ect, basically build the motor up on the d16 would it be worth it. Because of my budget if i swap in the b18 ill be working on a smaller budget and it will take even longer with all the parts i would have to buy and even installing it soo now im thinking it would be better to stick with the d16 and turbo it. What do you think i should do honestly? Any suggestions would help because i need to start buying parts.
