I have a problem with the abs brakes. When I push the pedal there is a relay clicking in the dash and the lights flash. All the brakes drums and rotor are new. If I pull the fuse the brakes work fine. Help?
This is a 1998 Grand AM

I have a 98 GA SE. Rear brakes are being a pain, mainly in the AM. During the first braking (at low speed) the rear wheels grab really bad and the rear of the car squats hard. The brakes can go into the ABS bang bang mode. Have also heard the chattering relay noise. I don't get any warning lights.

After that first incident the brakes seem to be OK except for the rear end of the car squatting. The squatting and grabbiness continues but am thinking that this is caused by wheel cylinders that need replacing. Anyone seen this before?

Have not looked for the chattering relays yet. Any insight appreciated.

Welcome to AF Ron.
I dont think your troubles are not related to this posters problem.

Typical of GM's N-body's draging the rear pass wheel after sitting overnight.

Could be several things causing this issue.
Bad wheel cylinder(s), dirty old fluid(ridden with moisture) but the squatting I'd check your rear coil springs and the mounting plates. Also check the rear struts/shocks

If you do a search for "rear wheel locking up" in the Grand Am forums you'll find several with simular issue(s).

Up to this point I had not seen anything here that had any similar symptoms here or other places on the web. Will have a go at a search in a bit. The brakes (rotors, pads, drums turned, & shoes) have been done about 5 months ago and just recently started this
