2001 1500 Quad Power Steering

Got word from son today that power steering on Dodge is gone. Came home and yep, nothing there...fluid is good, no warning for this...no unusual sounds or problems...worked fine two days ago. When son went to move truck today, it just wasn't there? Is that how a pump fails??? Instantly?

did you take it [the pump] and see what happened to it? usually a p/s pump goes bad because of wear on the pumping vanes these are made of rubber and just wear down to where they are too short to pump. but some thing happened on the inside of yours to make it quit all at once.
