99 Ultra tire question

Got the 225/60/16's, just put the new Michelin Hydroedge on them, they feel like marshmellows, and don't have the handling either, plus I noticed during all the rain here that the traction has kicked in a few times like they arn't gripping as well. So the question, looking into a shorter side wall to get a stiffer sidewall. What size can I go with that would not put the speed reading off to much? or just maybe a stiff side wall on the same tire. Was looking at the Goodyear Response Edge, is that a good one? Thanks

Sorry to hear of your tire trouble.

I replaced the horrible OEM Goodyear Conquests on my '01 PA non-Ultra with BF Goodrich Traction T/As, P225/60R16 97T. These tires have transformed the car.

I have just under 20K on them now, and I am completely satisfied. The combination of ride comfort, noise level, all weather traction, handling, and appearance is perfect. Also, there have been no wear issues. Rotate them according to the manufacturer's schedule, and BFG will warranty them to 60K. The tires look clean and aggressive - but not overly so - on the factory chrome wheels. I probably should have selected the H-rated tire (130 mph), as it cost only a few dollars more, and the improvement in handling, I've been told by BFG dealers, is noticable. Next time.

Do your research. Compare tires at Tirerack.com. But put this tire at the top of your list. I can't think of a better tire to complement your Ultra.

I have had great luck on my parks with the bf goodrich precept, about 70,000 tread life. Great in the snow and wet driving. I get very good wear from them also.
