Replacing side mirror 2005 Malibu

Can anyone tell me how to do this? There is a plastic triangular piece on the inside of the door that needs to be removed in order to have access to the bolts holding the outside mirror on, but I'm not clear on how to get it off. It might just snap on and off with some prying, but I'm afraid I'll damage it by trying to do this if it's not designed to be removed in this manner.

grab a door panel popper and pry it out a bit so u can look behind it with a flashlight and see what type of connector it is. If this piece is connected to the door panel then u know what u have to do
