Passlock II Problem, Cranks but no start...

I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu, 3.1L, V-6, it has 138,000 miles on it. It was running fine yesterday afternoon, I parked it and when I came back out a couple of hours later last night, to go somewhere, it would crank but it wouldn't start. The battery has a good charge on it and there is a spark on the spark plug wires and it does have gas in it and I have checked all of the fuses and none of them seem to be bad, and also, the fuel pump does kick-on when you turn the key to ACC position. I went back to try the car, again, today and it did the same as yesterday. Today though I had noticed that the red anti-theft system's light was constantly blinking when the key was turned on to ACC position. I don't recall if it was blinking or not yesterday, though. I do not know what the codes are yet until I get it tested, hopefully, tomorrow. Will anything work for me with the engine not being able to start and without the knowledge of the codes yet? I need help and I have read all of the other threads already and I am still at a loss. Am I even heading in the right direction, do you think?:banghead: :disappoin :frown: :shakehead

do u hear the injectors clicking while trying to start? All the passlock problems I had, the car would start for 2 or 3 seconds then shut off.

Well I have not yet been able to fix the problem completely, but I have been able to fix it temporarily. I have found out that it IS a Passlock II problem with my car a 2002 chevy malibu 3.1L. I sometimes go to start my car and it cranks over but will not start. I noticed that the ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM light on the panel is lit up and it was flashing on and off continually when I turned the key on. To remedy this I have to put the key in the ignition and turn to the ACC position and leave the driver's side door open for approximately 12-15 minutes or until the ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM light stops blinking. Then I try to turn the car on and it usually takes 2-3 tries to finally get the car started after this but it does work every time so far for me. I have learned so far that to supposedly fix this problem completely that I need to get the car to a shop that can hook the car up to a TECH-2 machine so that the codes can be fixed for that reason. I still have yet to learn what and/or why this keeps happening though.

You usually don't get a crank but no start condition with PL II, but it's been awhile since I messed with one. Typically you get no crank and a flashing theft light. Do you have an aftermarket remote start installed? If so the PL II bypass module might not be putting the proper resistance reading across the PL II circuit/wire. Either that or the ignition switch is bad. That is very common on some late model GM's.

When the engine is running cut the yellow wire going to the ignition module. There are 3 wire just cut the yellow one with the engine running. It start first time every time after that.

my 03 did te same thing. I turned key to on position and waited for flashing theft light to go off and then turned key off and car started right up. It only did this once, however the theft light has come on without flashing while driving several times but car would restart if turned off. This came right out of owner's manual

Thank you everyone.
The anti-theft blinking was reset this morning, and car started fine.
Thanks very much for your help.
You all saved me a bunch of money ( 70 ( towing) +90 ( diagnostic) +$$$ ( god knows what solution mechanic would have given).

I'm starting to think that Passlock is getting blamed for all sorts of problems.
