Rattling from Cat

So I've had this going on for awhile, but just now gotten really bad. There's a rattling coming from the cat. It sounds like metal on metal hitting, so I always thought it was my exhaust hitting the heat shield, but it's not. I actually took a small C-Clamp once and put it on the ends of it on the one side and tightened it up. The rattling did stop amazingly. Well that fell off and now it's doing it worse. Do I need a new Cat? It's only 2 years old! What the crap yo?

Mine was just doing this last week. It turned out to be the heat shield on the top of the cat. Apparently the spot weld let loose in one corner and the heat shield was smacking against the top of the cat. I ended up having a friend of mine weld it back on.

definitely the heat sheild on top of the cat. I had the same problem. It's freakin annoying. You can either redo the weld or tack it down with a clamp.

tack it down with a clamp. I had to do that on mine. A weld broke of the heat shield over the exhaust pipe that is right below the fuel tank.

But it was weird cause I put a C-Clamp on the cat itself and it stopped it. I'll have to check out the heat shield. All I did was look for contact between the exhaust and shield, not shield to car.
