Blazer Tranny Fluid and Smoking Engine

My daughter's Blazer started smoking on the highway yesterday. She pulled off and with the assistance of a highway patrolman discovered tranny fluid spewing from the engine. It's a 97 and we've sunk alot of $$ into the car over the last two years.
For those of you who are car savvy, could this be a hose? Or will we need a whole new tranny? Also, the car is 120 miles away - should we tow it home?

check the tranny coolant lines and unless someone near it can work on it or something along those lines i would say tow it home

Thanks much - we'll ask about that tomorrow.
We're hoping it's the easier of the two suggestions.
