As most of u guys know, i own a 91 Civic....
Its the STD model, so pretty bare bone.
I bought it for about 2,000$ because it has extremely high kilometers.
I put 1600 bucks in a new clutch and distributer in.
Its definetly gonna need a new engine.
The interior is this shitty vinyl crap that i am gonna need to get rid of.
Its only got a 4sp transmission.
Its beginning to leak green shit, i think its antifreeze but i dunno.
ractive exhaust, k&n air filter, tinted windows, 900$ stereo system, 300$ deck, 200$ door speakers.
Its going to need alot of work, so i am trying to balance a decision on whether i should save up some $$ and buy one of the other cars i've been looking at, such as a probe or 240....or should i keep it and spend I already know what alot of u are going to say, but i just want your the time on it that it needs.
personal opinion on what i should do. And if u do vouche for me selling it, does anyone have a remote idea on what i could get for my car in consideration to everything i've put into it?
Thank yeah.
      :( :( :(

well i have a 91 civic right now, so what would be the point of buying another one? the money it would cost me to do all that, would equate the costs that it woudl cost to fix this one, or probably less....

Uh...the green shit is antifreeze
I would keep this car and fix it up. A STD model is the lightest of all HBs, so any investments in HP are even more noticable in your light car.
If you do any type of engine swap, there is a good chance it will come with a tranny, so that will solve the other issue with your 4-speed.
So...there is my $0.02 ;)

yeah, I'd fix that one instead...but you'll only save money if you do the work yourself...if not, just get a fixed up 90-91 Civic again and use your car for parts...PLEASE, dont go to the darkside and buy a probe...

please don't buy ford :(
honda was so far ahead of it's time back in 88-91. let me put it into perspective for ya. in 88-91 the JDM SiR was made. here we are almost 15 years later and not only is the b16 in more demand then ever but the civic and the SiR style is as well. i don't know about you but i have never heard someone saying "my 88 escort is the shit" and 9 times out of 10 whenever i hear "my 88 5.0 will smoke your civic" it's generally a dude with a bright red neck, the belt buckle to match, and a dirty wife beater t (with the nasty wife that should be beaten sittin' shot-gun).
...just my opinion

I wish I had a 5.0, they're seriously badass, and my friend's 89 5.0 can smoke my CRX. I'd still rather have my CRX though.
Anyway, I think you should just keep your current car and fix it up. Perhaps ditch the crappy vinyl for leather:cool:

yeah, does anyone know where i can get a leather interior done, and about how much it will cost....
another reason why i wanted to get a probe, was because of the interior, i mean the probe interiors arent amazing, but in my opinion they are superior to civics. the civic stereo console area and everything seems like...cheaply made and plasticy...the ford console seems a little more, hmm, i dunno, i am sure most of u get the idea that i am trying to get across...even with an integra swap...the probe interior is much nicer.
and with the standard model that i have, the entire inside of the car is that plastic shit too, heh, like the door panels dont have cloth like the SI and everything seems not as well put together. like i can light push on my inside door panels, and my whole door panel moves....i dunno...like a 1993-1995 probe seems generally alot wel better put together, and maybee a better "bang fo mah buck" kinda thing. i dunno.
start the flaming .... NOW!
thanks :)

Don't know why this wasn't one of the first things asked, but what are you going for show or go? I can't realy make a comparision on which of the 3 would make a better show car, also can't make a correct comparision on which would be a faster car, but I would have to say the Civic would be faster, because of its weight.
IMO I would stay away from the Probe, my friend had one and he had to keep fixing something on it all the time. If you were to sell your civic and have to choose between Probe or 240sx, I would definitely go for the 240.
Just my .02

If you bought an old 4th gen civic, to roll in style, or have a nice quiet, comfy interior. Sell it now and by something else. Or, have a extra car for that purpose. I find myself going back to my G20 for a few days, just for that very reason. But very rarely will you find a car, that fits your style. You have to work on in, refine it, Make it yours. That's what being a enthusiast is all about. Hell, I know someone selling a badass CRX, leather interior, b18 swap, kit, the works. But why buy someone else's toy? Make it yours. It takes time, and lots of patience. Set a realistic date that you want to have something finished. Then work for that goal. It's just like life.
Oh, btw $1600 for a clutch and dizzy, ouch. :bloated:

Well said Kris...My Civic is my daily driver but once in a while I'll drive the Mercedes its always a pleasant experience...Especially when its raining and roads are slick. I like the way the wiper on the Mercedes clears the windshield with a single stroke and how safe you feel inside. Civic's more fun to drive though...:flash:

they aren't that hard to find. it was just a suggestion to an option nobody mentioned. i think i'd (personally) rather find some teg seats then to get all mine redone.
