I looked under my hood when i got home from work this morning when I knew something didn't sound right, and saw that my drive belt has about had it and its a cheap one that I bought and its just 3 months old and I drive 45 miles 1 way to work everyday. My check engine light has been coming on,i'm wondering if my drive belt was causing it,and if it was,a new belt should fix that problem. This time,i'm buying the best belt in autozone.

Its possible, though off-hand I couldn't tell you want sensor would trip it. You've got to replace the belt, obviously. So, replace it and see if the light goes away. If not, just do a search on how to jump the pins on the OBDI connector, and let us know what enginge codes you get.

I replaced the belt and even bought a 12oz can of carburator cleaner and cleaned the throttle body and it appears to be clean now from what I can tell. i use a screwdriver to hold the flapper thing open to clean it and as far as I can see inside it,its clean,i'm not sure about the internal workings though. Maybe you could tell me where I can go to get a throttle spacer installed.

Can the map sensor cause the check engine light come on if its got a vacumm leak? I found the plastic line broke on the map sensor and repaired it with a small rubber hose, and I believe that may have been the problem and won't know for sure until i'm on the way to work tomorrow night. There is now a big difference in the vehicle's performance anyways. Someone please let me know if that is known to trigger the check engine light or not.
