So I need a decent alarm system for my car, I went to places like circuit city and best buy, well around here in wisconsin they wont sell one to me unless they install it. However I know, even thou they say free installation they are still jacking up prices to include install. I want to do it myself!! I ripe apart the WHOLE car, practically rewire all of it, but apparently I dont have the brains to install my own alarm. I should be able to buy one off the internet, right? All this happened when the car was sittin on blocks half ripped apart in the garage, and they wanted me to bring my car to them...ahh NA! And seriously idc how experienced these people are, I dont trust very many people with my car. :banghead: Does anyone else anywhere else have the same problem?

Never trust anyone with your car. i learned that the hard way. I have worked on my car for 37 years, ever since i had it. I never let a mechanic touch it. But ya know as you get older you work on it less and less and get lazy. wel the one time i let a mechanic work on it. He screws up the carbeurator (<-cant spell), bents the engine brackets, loses brackets, crates a tranny leak. The car fell apart. He tightened all the rockers to much and i broke 4 rockers in 4 weeks. F'ing ridiculous.

no you don't. Those alarms are overpriced and fail very quickly. I know, I sell them. I use to only push DEI stuff but since they've changed their out sourcing company they've dropped the ball. You should look into a Compustar alarm. They were the ones that created the 2way remote. Go to www.compustar.com and look up a local dealer. They sell to REAL alarm shops so chances are you'll be talking to an owner and they'll understand your concern. You should have them install it but it's up to you. If the shop is proud of what they do, they'll let you watch as they install. We do at my shop.
