1987 fiero 2m4 auto no reverse help !

i just bought nice 1987 2m4 95,000 miles nice shape auto trans got home went to back out trans slipped a little in reverse went in. now wont go at all in reverese forward gears work fine fluid smells looks good is full . is there any adjustment for reverse bans etc or anything like this ? also if i change tranny does whole motor trans have to come out as unit to change tranny ?looks like only way to get out is to drop whole engine tranny support frame out as unit any help would be great long live fiero! thanks erik

Take off the center console and check for loose change or other material that comes out of an ashtray and falls down around the shift mechanism and jams it up.

I've seen this phenomena before..a quarter will do lots to jam the mechanism.:2cents:
