tire losing air no hole though...

I drove my car over to get the tire filled a bit because it was kind of low, NOT completely flat though. as i filled it to the correct presssure, well by eye compareable to the others, i herd air escaping from around where the tire meets the rim on the outside, and the stem would let air out if i moved the stem slightly too, i know the stem can be replaced though. whats the deal, hope its not an issue with the rim itself. btw, when i had the rims put on i remember them saying one was bent, but it still held air til now and diddnt look bent upon visual inspection, but showed it was slightly on the balancer, and i dont even know if it was the same rim they were talking about.

well it doesnt seem to be loosing air at the moment but ill keep anyone updated whos interested

Ive had a few tires lose air with aluminum rims. when i changed my last set i used a generous amount off a "goop" they had where i installed them. kind of a black goo , sticky glue type thing. this prevented any leaks for me.

I've had issues with the bead deteriorating on the tire and as a result the tire will lose air where it meets the rim. If you have the tire separated from the rim do a visual check of the mating surface where the tire meets the rim.

Sometimes, moisture in the air within the tire will cause the wheel to corrode (rust) in the area of the tire bead as well. I've found that a can of fix-a-flat can do a good job of sealing these or other bead leaks without needing to go see a tire specialist. The downside is that if you don't follow the instructions on the can to the letter, you can throw a tire off balance and set up a vibration.

yeah i think ill just have it checked out when i get new tires, i think its almost time soon anyway. the tires definetly look like they've seen better days

Could just be a bad valve stem, see those at my shop all of the time. If it is you have to take the tire off so replacing them could be a possable choice anyway.

im probably going to have them replace all the valve stems as well, because they came with the used rims so who knows how old they are or how much longer they will last.
