This was intended to be a LeMans 24 hour build, but the paint scheme derailed that. Anyway, I finally got it completed. 1/24 UMI kit.

That really came out nice. Great work and impressive subject you got there. I have seen this car as a model and yours is truely inspirational. How rare is this kit?

Love it Ken, absolutely perfect. I've never seen an UMI kit but from all reports you've made a silk purse form the proverbial sow's ear there. Very unusual subject (for AF at least).

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them. This is not a contest winner, but its a nice shelf model. I dont know much about UMI modelwerks, but if you're curious about how rare they are, just try to find one on the internet. Maybe some others here can say something about UMI's history.

This dated interview with Michael Quarterman from GPMA archives.....he tells of some of the history of UMi.
http://gpma.org/Archive/10ftb03.html
He used to publish a magazine in which he would review only resin kits and do articles on historic race cars and make detailed drawings for detail reference. The magazines were actually popular with a lot of modelers, I still have many of them myself.
By the time of this article the production of his resin kits were long over...I don't know how many he did...I remember a Ferrari 712 and 166 Barchetta and quality varied greatly between them.
Eventually he began doing decal artwork, which was his strong point, for Studio 27 in their early days and some others....soon that was all he had time for as he was/is doing so many sets for S27.
