Cadillac - gone for good?

When Cadillac said they left after the current season, they mentioned that it was a step back in order to make a better jump at a later date. The year 2004 and a move to GTS were floated but of course not confirmed.
Do you think it was just a PR stunt to lessen the effect of the poor showing of the LMP900 cars, or is it a genuine reorientation?
If so, what do you think will be run in GTS?
From the top of my head, there is two possibilities - a reskinned Corvette in the shape of the upcoming XLR, or (farther fetched) a running of the yet-to-be-produced Cadillac Cien (which would make an oh-so-awesome racecar!).
These are just idle speculations from an ALMS fan, but what is your take on this? I believe that the introduction of the V-series Cadillac would help a return to motosport.
