I took it in for a complete ac system check. They said no leaks and the compressor and evaporator were great. Said they replaced the little pressure caps and recharged it and it ran great for 2 days. Then started blowing warm air again. Took it back and again they checked for leaks and found none. Said my low pressure switch was bad and they replaced it(only $20 for the switch, no labor charge). Went on a trip last weekend and it ran fine but on the way home, it was acting up again. Blew cold air, but when i put the fan on high, it only blew as if it were in low. By the time I got home I could hear the fan blowing harder, but no air came out, not cold or even warm. Now it seems to be working fine. The day after I got home from the trip, there was a sizable puddle of water under it that came out during the night. Thought water only came out if it was running? Ran it for 20-30 minutes today and it worked great. Freezing in fact. Any ideas what Im dealing with? Oh yeah, last time when it was blowing warm air, I put it in reverse, backed up 5 feet and heard and felt a little pop that felt like it was right under my feet, then almost immediately the cold air came out.

Auto Matic AC controls?
Any codes or flashing lights?
Does the fan motor blow good on all speeds and out the dash vents?
Does the compressor shut off and stay off or cycle on and of real fast?

Is the drain pipe open and drain water most of the time?

We are going to need you low and high side ac pressure readings at idle and at 2K with compressor running.

Post back readings

Manual and auto. No lights. Motor seems to blow good except for the one time I had it on high and it barely blew at all. It drains alot of water, mostly once im parked. Every morning theres a decent puddle under it.

If automatic AC controls check body computer for body codes.
Post back your pressure readings.

Where, and bout how much, can I get a kit to check that by myself.

by myself.

Here is what you need.
With compressor jumped and running post back you low and high side readings at idle and at 2K.

With a ac recharging gauge set. That has a low side and a high side gauge.
Like one of these.

Low side should be close to 30 lbs.
If it is dropping under 25 lbs the switch will cycle or shut off compressor.

On the kits.
Wal mart and jip joint parts places sell them. But:grinyes:

You cannot properly and safely recharge an air condition system with them.

The one side stop and go gauge does not tell you what your system is doing or is over charged or undercharged.
A overcharged or malfunction air condition system can reach over 500 lbs of pressure.
Enough to blow up that can or system and freeze you at first and the burn you or blind you and if any propane /butane in there blow and light you up.

The stop leak crap and who knows what kind of oil in the kits there will stop your system for sure.
Just like pouring super glue in it.
And some kits even contain freon with a butane mixer.
Good for a big blast.

If you are going to do it do it right and safe.
Here is what you need to start with.

In the older days you could just throw in a can and go.
But over the years just adding freon is getting harder to do.
Newer systems have to have the correct amount of freon down to the ounces.
Most will need pumped down and vacuumed down and the right and amount of oil and a set amount freon charge installed to get the air to cool right and the system to last.
If an air condition is low there is usually a leak that needs fixed and also a lose of lubricating oil from system.
Also air and moisture enters a low system
If you are going to try to do it get the proper type air condition gauge set with the low and high side gauges.
Hook up the gauges and get a reading with compressor running at idle and at 2000 rpm on the high and low side.
Post back pressure reading and we can help you.
