Not exactly forced induction...

I have a question pertaining to certain parts in forced induction.

I was contemplating using the hoodscoops on my Camaro for ram air. I then thought about running the air through an intercooler, first. Is this a wise idea, or would digging a hole and throwing a few hundred in it be more useful?

I think an intercooler would slow down the "ram air" (ram air a good idea.)

The air is already ambiant temp so an air or water cooler will do no good.

Nat aspirated engines with a sccop don't get too hot on inlet air temps.

ram air really won't do much, you need to be going at a really good clip to get any kind of performance out of them, they're pretty much just a cold air intake with a tiny bit extra.

are you running forced induction? if not an intercooler won't do anything.

an intercooler on a naturally aspirtated engine is almost always counter-productive. and an intercooler mounted on top of an engine will suffer low efficency or inefficency due to heatsoak, where the heat of the engine reverses the work done by the intercooler.
