Monsoon Stereo question

I just picked up a 2004 GT2 Grand Prix Special Edition 2 days ago. I must say so far I am very impressed. I'm looking forward to long relationship with my new found love.
I'm just a little less than impressed the Monsoon 6-disc 9 speaker stereo system. I did notice that it has an external amplifier. My question is this. Does the head unit use preouts to the amp? I would like to replace the amp with aftermarket amps along with the speakers of course. However I do not want to lose the steering wheel controls and I like the factory look. I also do not want to use a Line Output Converter. I am hoping I can tap into the output coming from the head unit and install my own RCA's if necessary. I did this on a Mazda 6 and it works perfectly.
Thanks in advance for any assistance
Jim

Well, I'm not going to be of much help, but I have Infinity speakers in place of the OEM crap. I'm not sure which model as they were installed before I bought the car. But my system sounds pretty good even though it's still using the factory amp.
I have 2 RF 10" subs and an amp ready to be installed, so that should really help too!

Do you plan on using a LOC for the amp and subs?

No clue, my buddy who use to install stereo's for a living is installing everything for me.
