Are you trying to make a car crash diorama or a junk yard diorama?

cut off the front bumpers that are still there, cut off the side skirts, cut uff the trunk you can make a nice dragster wing) and you can use the rest of the junk plastic to make wngs and stuff, that's what I do.

Well, they didn't come out of the box that way and they didn't get like that from being dropped. Why would you crunch 4 untouched models? That's about $40.+ worth of kits!!

He lost it there. The reason? Still unclear. As a kid, I've done it :bloated: but only to one kit, not to 4 at the same time. He needs to clarify this.....

When you see some guys walking up your pathway in white coats....please dont be affraid, they are only here to to help you out in your time of need. The white jacket they give you is halmless, it wont hurt you. It just locks at the back with a padlock

We all here at AF wish you well....i'm sure we well come and visit you in your padded cell once a week to see how you are.

They've finally let me use the computer. I told the doctors that I need my daily dose of AF to keep my sanity! :help::hehe: :hehe: :help: :D

Now to break the suspense. All these kits were purchased like this. I picked up about 30 kits all together. I was able to save about 23 of them. This Tragic image was a direct result of the dockworkers going on stike for 10 days and returning to work not giving a damn about quality of the shipments. This strike happened several weeks ago and the stuff was sitting in the boats at the docks for several weeks awaiting US customs inspection.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/540766damage.jpg

Many of the bodies and clear parts were smashed, as if they were run over and backed into by a forklift. I was able to salvage about 2 of the 7 Junction Produce Lexus GS400 kits by Aoshima. I mainly got many of these kits for the wheelsets. As you may remeber the Hamann 360 with this wheelset. I was also able to save one of the Amemiya Greddy 9 Rx-7's. I swapped out the rims in this pic because the kit wheels were too small. This kit had a caved roof and buckled front end. The body side panels were also badly warped, but with the aid of a little heat and some plastic tweaking-things were somewhat put back in order. A little glue helped along the way. Here's a pic:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/938867greddy9.jpg
In the first pic, the boxes don't seem so bad. Its because I had to straighten them out to open the boxes. The bodies on all of the them had caved/ warped roofs with some cracked clear pieces. Suprisingly many of the clear parts weren't too bad on half of the kits. I can use clear styrene to repair some of the others.:(
I plan on kitbashing some kits and possibly making a junkyard diorama with the non-salvageable kits. Any ideas?

I'm not crazy I tell you!!!:hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: ?:help: ?

Chris,
I paid about 70 US dollars (approx. 45 pounds?) That's usually the equivalent for 4 kits in the US. Even the wheelsets are about 10 dollars/ set here. I did get lucky this time. There were many kits in this pile that are worth more than 30 dollars by itself.

I'll say - those F2001 kits are usually $35 by themselves. Great find!!

dammit... so you're the one who horded all Best1 Hobby's wrecked shipment :finger: :finger: :finger:

I knew something was wrong when on Sunday they gave a whole list of things and almost all were gone by Monday :finger: :finger: :finger:

Hey, btw, on that picture of the Greddy RX7, is that the kit stock bumper? It looks... weird... even for fujimi's whacked standard

3 Tamiya F2001 kits @ 35.00 each
2 Amemiya Greddy9 kits @ 32.00 each
7 Junction Produce Lexus GS400 kits @ 24.00 each
2 Luck Racing MR2 kits @ 28.00 each
4 Toyota HiLux kits @ 28.00 each
2 Honda Accord kits @ 22.00 each
2 Schnitzer S5 kits @ 16.00 each
1 HKS Altezza @ 24.00 each
1 Honda S2000 @ 22.00 each
1 Honda Fit @ 20.00 each
1 Chevy Astro van @ 38.00 each
1 Toyota Hi-Ace Van @ 24.00 each
1 Star Wars Episode 2 kit @ 30.00 each
1 VeilSide R32 kit @ 24.00 each
1 Honda Civic EK4 kit @ 17.00 each

This equals 30 kits and about $745.00 store value ( not retail ).
I paid 70 dollars, but lost about 7 kits. The wheelsets are worth keeping, so hnot all is a total lost. Like I said before the wheels sets are about 10.00 a set here.

I'm happy:)
-Walter

Yes I horded the shipment because the told me they had a shipment of many damaged kits they knew I could fix. I know the owners, so they gave it to me even cheaper knowing that their regular customers couldn't do anything, but save the wheelsets. Where you there on Sunday? I got everything on Saturday. Sorry!

Another example of why unions need to be banned! Especially those whose members make $80K a year doing $10.00-an-hour work (like those dock workers). It just infuriates me!!
How this extortion is allowed in this country is beyond me!

It only had minor box damage and some loose pieces broken off the runners. I paid 10 bucks for it.
