Instrument lights

I have an 87 Cherokee. The instrument lights stopped working along with the driving lights, I replaced the headlight/dimmer switch, no difference, the headlights and dome lights still work. Any ideas?

Any other symptoms before you lost the lights? Check the fuse to see if it's ok, there is a second set under the hood that will go bad also.

Time to take the instrument pack out and check for:

The bulbs
The connector

Fuses are all good, I haven't seen any under the hood except relays under a cover on the passenger side and two over on the fender on the driverside. Why would a connector or bulbs make the driving and taillights stop working? Before the lights we had the steering wheel off to tighten the tilt steering, other then that nothing. I've heard that it could be somewhere in the wiring.

Sorry, I miss read the part about the running lights or marker and tail lights.

Will think about this some more, I can't locate a diagram for an early model. Use a voltmeter or test light to trace from the light switch.
