Hi you guys,
I absolutely love early 4th gen. Camaros (93-97), and was considering purchasing a 94 w/ the 3.4L V6, and replacing that engine w/ the wonderful LT1 350. The whole reason I'm considering this, is because I'm having so much trouble tracking down what I want, and when I do, the engine has been abused (lifter problems, blowby, etc.).
My question: is it worth it to go through this trouble, or should I just hold tight and wait for my Z28 to show up??????? And, what would be the cost involved if I choose the engine swap route?
Thanks in advance,
MayaLa

Definately not worth the trouble of a swap. Just wait for an LT1 that you want.

Its not hard to find one here they are all over the place.
Find one cheap with a blown v-8, and take it over to Mikes Machine Shop over on the south side of OKC and have him rebuild it. The cost will be the same as buying a v-6 model and converting it to a v-8. That or call American Camaro and Firebird in Warr Acres and find out what a low mile motor would cost. They have some pretty sweet deals from time to time.

Wait a second let me get this straight...
you want to put a LT1 in a 3.4L car, because you can't find an LT1 car with a good motor???
Why not just buy one with an bad LT1 since you are going to replace the motor anyway? Its a hell of a lot easier to put a v8 in a car that had a v8 in it already.
If you got from the v6 to a v8 you have to replace more than just the engine... shocks, radiator, wiring, fuel pump, computer, complete intake, exhaust manifolds, etc. It's just a whole lot of extra work.

I would buy an LT1 or an LS1 car. Leave the 3.4L alone. If you ever start swapping out all of the stuff you'll see what I mean. It's just not worth the time, money and effort, this is an extremely difficult way to get a V8 car.
