'56 won't shift

I just had a guy finish painting my 1956 but the car will not shift into anything from first gear.

Any ideas?

Has any body looked at the linkage at the bottom of the column, the shift levers can lock up from worn bushings, if ok there pull the links off the trany and try it manually, not much to tell you this requires on site checks. Clutch ok?

Yep, I would say that it is probably the shift linkage. When the bushings are worn it can happen very easily. You should probably get familiar with it or you will embarrassed at an intersection one day during rush hour.
