99 Taurus - front left bearing keeps comming apart

Bought this 99 taurus knowing that both front bearings needed replacement, I went to the junk yard and replaced left and right spindles. Afterwards, it still made some noise that got worse over the course of a trip from new york to tenessee. When I got back I jacked up the car and discovered that the front left wheel bearing (which I just replaced) was destroyed and the axal was grinding on what was left of the bearing frame. I went back to the same junk yard and replaced the bearing again with same results, then a third time with the same results, I then purchased a brand new one fromt he auto parts store and sure enough the bearing broke again.

Why is this happening? How can I fix this? Should I replace the axal? Replace the spindle again? PLEASE HELP.:runaround:

Are you using an impact wrench to remove the spindle nut or the bearing retaining bolts? An impact wrench can shatter the chrome plating on the bearing balls and drastically reduce bearing life. It's all supposed to be done with hand tools.

Having said that, it's almost inconceivable that this could have caused three bearings to fail. Are you sure the CV joint is in good condition? Front end is aligned?

I believe the car is aligned because it drives straight and it does NOT pull to the side much when driving. There IS evidence of a front end collision I recon the drivers door was replaced and the bearing that is giving me trouble is the front left wheel.

I'm trying to find out the most likely cause.

-left front axel pushing up against the bearing?
-worn ball joint bending the axel
-missing dust shield causing debris and sand to damage bearing
-bent frame that is pushing spindle into the axel

Please HELP as I'm gettng tired of replacing these bearings.
