changing lock cyclinder, will passlock be an issue?

I posted this in the Pontiac section and got no response. Since there is more activity over here in the Chevrolet section, perhaps I'll find someone who can help.

I would like to change the lock cylinder in my Sunfire, as the one key I have has a bad side to it. As I understand the system now, replacing just the lock cylinder will not cause problems with passlock. Am I correct?

There should be no issues, but I am trying to understand why you are replacing the cylinder just because the one side of your key is bad, the keys are the same on both sides. Have a new key cut and have them cut both sides of the blank off the good side of your key.

My thought is that the lock it probably pretty well worn at this point, and I may as well change the lock cylinder since it is not that difficult. However, yes I have gotten an extra key made for the mean time.:cheers:
