2001 escort

i have 2001 escort that when u let car sit for while it is hard to start it take about 2 cranks before it starts i chance the throttle position senstor i no luck i also chane the idle air control valve no luck any advise thank u

Check the fuel pressure when the key is on. You may need to change the fuel filter or the fuel pressure sensor. It sounds like you are getting some leak down when the car sits. One way to avoid this would be to turn the key on for a few seconds and wait. This will build fuel pressure and it should start readily.

The fuel pressure regulator might be bad. It is a diaphram with a vacuum hose running to it. It is on top on the L side of the engine. Close to the fuel rail. If the vacuum line has come lose or is leaking you won't have pressure held in the system.
