alright, i drive a 93 silverado, i had noticed the compressor would cycle on and off for about 1 second, then suddenly it stopped working. i left for Marine boot camp 3 days later, now I'm back home and want to fix it. i have no idea why its not working, any one have any knowledge on this subject?

A couple of things come to mind. The system is to low on freon so low pressure switch won't work or it could be that the low pressure switch ( on the accummulator) is bad. I also have a 93 and have had to replace the switch before. But I would almost bet that your system is low on refrigerate. You can jumper the wiring harness at the low pressure switch to see if compressor comes on but don't leave it that way.
AND THANKS for your service!!!

alright, well i jumpered the wiring harness and the compresser does kick on. i have replaced the switch a few times since i bought the truck in 93. how likely is it that the switch is faulty again rather than the system being low on refrigerant?

Switch or plug in wiring could be bad or just low on gas.
R-12 or R134a ?
But you need to get a recharging gauge set on it and post back low and high side reading with compressor running at idle and at 2K rpm.
With something like one of these.
