ive been looking into swaps and im thinking about buying a b18 ls and doing the vtec swap or getting a b20 and doing the vtec swap. i can get monster power with the b20 swap but im not so sure about the level of difficulty for the swap. i want to build the motor outside of the car and then drop it in once i have the parts. also, what would be a good transmission? a gsr maybe? need help.

no, ive never done a swap but ive read alot of information and know plenty of people who could help. my original plan was to buy the b16 swap kit but i looked into the b20 crvtec swap and the power is unreal. i plan on buying most of the parts from hasport. they have pretty much everything available for swaps

I have a b20 with very low mileage. I've had it for over two months cause of the extensive work and money it will take to get it right and make it reliable. The torque is hard to pass up with this swap but don't kid yourself its a job best left for a project car you don't need for a daily driver especially if your putting a vtec head on there. Its not a matter of taking one part off and putting another on there, just read the write-ups carefully before you set your heart on the swap. After reading the swap info on here and many other forums I've changed my tune and decided on a d15b or a bseries with a turbo. You seriously need to know your shit to pull the b20 vtec off. I hope the friends you have know a lot about engine building, tuning, and honda swaps

yea, i know that you have to drill a hole in the block for the oil supply line for the vtec. im going to buy the block and slowly build it until its completely ready to just drop in along with the other parts. one of my friends works at the honda place and knows a couple of the technicians so i guess if worse comes to worse, i can pay one of those guys to help with the swap. i was just wondering if anyone has had a good time with these blocks. the b16 swap just seems so overrated

the b16 swap just seems so overrated

not overrated...just common...swapping anything to get more power isn't overrated

i was just wondering if anyone has had a good time with these blocks.

plenty of people have...have you done a search on honda-tech?

Thats the best advice you can get...do a search on honda tech..the guys on there really know their stuff...the vtec oil line is probably the easiest part of the job btw

i meant that the b16 swap was overrated for that generation, not stupid. its more common than other more powerful swaps especially when just about everything is replaced.

yes the b16 has been used in many swaps, however every b16 swap has it's own unique style because of the owner. and the b16 also is widely available. i would say either go b16 or go with a turbo d.
