i posted this in a 2 in one thread but got no feedback about it, so maybe its better if i just post it alone. anyways, what would have to be wired up in order to have the power locks lock automaticly when the car is put into drive, or reaches above a certian speed, and unlock when the engine is shut off like the newer cars have? jus wondering, in case i ever become rich enough to do that feature

The only one I've seen this on (that I've worked on - I am not a professional mechanic) is the Silverados - and the lock system is connected to the neutral safety switch, which on these is mounted on the transmission itself, outside on the manual shaft on a 4L60E. Even with that, there is a relay in the underhood electrical center, and other wiring to keep the solenoids from frying by having direct power applied whenever the key is on.

yeah my pontiac has this feature, but i figured it would definetly be a real expensive thing to have put in on a car that doesnt have that.
