WalMart and auto stores sell an accordian folded cardboard for covering the windshield about 4 bucks a heck of a lot cheaper. I saw one that said "SEND HELP" or something like that on one side so if you break down put it in the back window.

I saw them in Belks.
When you park put the AC control on AC, not max ac, and that opens the outside vent so you get air circulating in the car while it's parked. Put the cardboard windshield cover up and that's the best you can do to prevent heat build up. I'm always amazed because I see people in a parking lot park close to the store as they can get while there is plenty of shade to park in a few more steps away. No joke, 200 ft away plenty of shady spots but they act like it's major trauma if they have to walk that far and I see some that look like they do good to get out of bed. :licka: What was it the Burger commercial called it? Thunder Thighs and Ba-donki-donk butt? LOL! That broke me up!
Window tinting definitely helps and they claim it blocks out 75% of the heat. The Taurus dash is so big and collects so muich heat you would do well to consider a dash cover. Don't get to light a color because it will reflect on the widshield and it's aggrivating. Get the tint shop to put you a 6" strip on top of the windshield and you won't have to wear sunglasess, or at least I don't. Our state has a law regulating how dark it can be and the cops carry a device that measures the darkness and if it's to dark you get a ticket and have to remove it. So the tint shop puts a little decal under the tint verifiying it is within legal limits.
If you have tint windows and get stopped by a cop put all the windows down. When a cop walks up to a car they can't see inside it makes them nervous which I can well understand. Putting the windows down let's them know you have nothing to hide. You're already in trouble so anything you can do to make the cop feel more at ease is a good move.

I know in many states it is also illegal to have the "silverized" tint or any other color for that matter. In NY I believe we are allowed tint that is labeled 5% darkness. And of course you have to check which windows you are allowed to tint.

Not to be entered into lightly because when you travel it may be legal in your state but when you're in another state you're subject to their laws. Mine isn't that dark (green) but it sure helps. We had our home windows done and you can open the glass and hold your hand behind the tint and the other one in the sun and you better believe you feel the difference. If I didn't tell you they were tinted you would never know it and they knock out a lot of UVL rays that discolor floors and whatever.
I must admit, I saw a black Camaro with the super black tint and that puppy did look good.
