Not to start another keyless entry thread, but I just purchased a 97 Bonneville SE. great car, always wanted on in this body style and sold my 01 sable LSP to buy it (made bunch of money on the deal too!!) anyways, all I have is a door key and ignition key, no remote. I can buy one on EBAY, but how do I know if the one I get will work for my car? Is it based on the VIN, or are all Pontiac recievers the same that look the same?
Also, the HVAC vents on the left and right of the steering wheel are broken, the little directional guides are missing and so are some of the vanes. How do I get to these to replace them, does it just snap apart somehow that i'm not seeing?
And for number 3, I noticed yesterday after driving, that it appears to be leaking something in the area between the oil pan and tranny pan. I crawled under with my work light, and could not see a source for the leak, but the fluid was too dirty to tell if it was red or brown. Is it common for the power steering pumps to leak on these cars with higher mileage (97K miles)? I can only guess thats where its coming from. Waiting for the car to cool a bit so i can get at the resevoir to check level. Appreciate all the help you can provide, thanks much!

I purchased a fob on ebay as well for daughter's '95 Buick. It arrived with a Pontiac logo, so they must be fairly interchangeable. The instructions for programming the fob were to jump positions 4 and 8 on the connection where the ODB scanners connect. The method for yours may be different and the seller should provide the directions. Beats going to the dealer.
As for the leak, I can't help.
The vents will probably have to come from a junk yard as it's a royal pain to find interior trim parts, and even more difficult to translate their definition to a layman's term may be.

The 96 Bonneville uses a different remote than your 95 Lesabre.
