Does adding a cold air intake system really worth it. I read all the garbage about increasing horsepower. So what does every else think. I have a 2001 LT, 5.3, how much horsepower would a cold air intake add. I have K&N air filter on it so any advantage that it adds I'm already getting. I am just intrested what evetybody else thinks.

A K&N air filter is OK but you need their FIPK kit. I have used them for years and they really make a difference you can feel and hear.

I have an K&N FIPK on my 02 4.8. I definitly noticed a difference, mainly in my the truck's ability to accelerate without downshifting. However, you will probably not see the advertised HP gains outside the 5000 rpm range.

mine is a offbrand off ebay but made a big difference at 40-60 accellerating hard and seems to bring the mpg up a little bit.

i have a trueflow kit on mine. It uses an aftermarket tube and foam filter and your stock air box. I cut my airbox up a bit to make more flow. Sounds and works good.

Some times it does and some times it does not help.
But rule of the thumb more power will give less mileage.
You already have a forced cold air air intake with the factory air filter box.
And some so called cold air air intakes are not so cold air intakes but actually hot air intakes.
And sometimes more air in can throw the hole system out of whack.
If you install one chose with care.
Check your mileage and power with a good AC filter before and after.

Thats what i read when i was doing research on cold air intakes. Alot of the CAI like k&n and airaid replace the factory airbox but the aftermarket "heat sheild" does not do that good of a job keeping heat out of it.

10-4 on that.
A true cold air intake system will draw air from fender or grille area and take advantage of forced cold air when going down the road.

From my experience, with my volant intake it has given me more power and better gas mileage.
