hi, just wanted to say i love this forum. it has been very helpful. got my head lights fixed! i have a 95 geo metro lsi with 1.3 4 cylinder engine. car runs great, has plenty of power but my check engine light stays on. i get around 30 mpg. not sure what is normal for this engine.took it to autozone to get it checked but didnt have the right thing to check it an said i should take it to dealer which gets exspensive. i have read where people talk about inserting a fuse an watch flashes. need more info on this an anything else someone might can tell me. thanks! by the way ever so often the check engine light will flash on an off real quick causing an split second miss.:banghead:

in the fuse box under the dash you will see one spot for a fuse that is a little lower than the rest and doesn;t have a fuse in it. it should be the one closest to the firewall and on the right hand side of the 2 rows of fuses. just plug one in there and the computer will blink out the codes through the check engine light in the dash when the key is on

Same thing happened to me. The check engine light came on two days ago on my 94 metro xfi so I called my mechanic who just did a major tune up on the car last month. He told me to check and see if the fuel filler cap was loose because if it was, it would allow the fuel vapors to escape and there would be no pressure in the tank giving some sensor a bad reading causing the check ingine light to come on. (Sorry,I'm probably repeating what he said wrong becouse I have a real bad memory and I'm not mechanically inclined) Anyways, I checked the fuel cap and it was loose. My mechanic also told me that after I tightened the cap back on, I should drive at freeway speeds for an x amount of miles and the light will turn off. Sure enough after driving to work then back (30 miles total) the light came off. This may or may not be your problem but I thought I could help you narrow it down. Good luck on finding out.
