Hardwire Tailgate Light

I just bought a Pacer Tailgate light and I was going to see if anyone could walk me through the steps needed to hardwire it, so I dont use my trailer plug.

I'm assuming you are talking about one of those LED light bars...

The light bar (I am assuming) should come with some kind of chart or diagram telling you what color of wires goes to whatever light function (turn signal, brakes, etc.) You will need to figure out which wires in your truck's factory wiring harness go to what, these are usually located on the driver's side of a truck then a smaller harness routes over to the lights on the passenger side.

You can do this by trial-and-error with a multimeter and watch the voltage levels, i.e. contant voltage with the truck's lights turned on is going to be the running lights, voltage only when you step on the brakes is the brake lights, etc.
or find a wiring diagram for your truck that should tell you what color of wires go to what and then splice the wiring together.

When you do splice them I would use a soldering gun and shrink wrap tubing to seal everything together with, those little three way crimps for trailer brake set ups are bad news, the wiring and connector eventually corrode causing you more problems down the road later.
